Death Registration

It is the application that takes place before the Civil Registration Officer to record the death of a relative.


  1. Bolivian Passport or ID of the family of the deceased. A third person may register the death through a Power of Attorney from family
  2. Legalized Death Certificate. Document must be certified by the Secretary of State where it was issued and authenticated by the State Department of the United States of America (See procedure Legalization).
  3. Translation of the death certificate. The Certificate of Death must be translated into Spanish, the General Consulate of Bolivia in Washington D.C. can translate (See procedure translation).


Registration of death in the Books of Death, including a Death Certificate (update to the family book is free): $ 10.00

Legalization of a Death Certificate not granted by the Consul, between Bolivian individuals or a Bolivian individual with a foreign individual (original or photocopy): $ 15.00

Translation of a Death Certificate not granted by the Consul: $ 10.00.
