CELEBRATION OF MARRIAGE

Information on the celebration of marriages in the Consular Civil Registry
The Marriage Celebration is the legal act by which two people of different sex who meet the requirements established by the standard, go to the Civil Registry Officer to request to register that decision in the respective book, constituting a union regulated by the Law provided of stability and permanence. For this they must present themselves at the consulate with the following requirements:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Certificate of manifestation of the will to marry (Marital Edict). Document that will record the will to marry that must be requested at the Consulate General in the physical presence of the contracting parties with valid identity documents (ID or Passport for Bolivians, and passport for foreigners if translated) and witnesses (not necessarily Bolivians with Bolivian CI or passports if properly translated ) 15 days prior to the celebration of the marriage.
  • Birth certificate (boyfriends), Apostilled in case of being a foreigner
  • Marriage capacity (boyfriends) for Bolivians certification of non-existence of departure issued by the Consulate General and for Foreigners Certification of singleness or equivalent document in their country of origin duly Apostilled and translated, or proof of termination of previous marriages with death or dissolution certificates of marriage duly legalized or Apostilled and translated in case of foreigners if applicable
  • Valid passport or identity document (boyfriends) or valid identity card for Bolivians.
  • Two witnesses with their current Identity Document do not have to be familiar and not necessarily Bolivian.

NOTE.- Once the marriage certificate has been completed, a date will be assigned for the celebration of the wedding after 15 days after this procedure.

COSTS:

  • Marriage between Bolivians: $ 50.00
  • Marriage when one of the parties is a foreigner: $ 100.00
  • Marriage Certificate Legalization : $ 15.00
  • Birth Certificate Legalization (Foreigners Only): $ 50.00
