STUDENT VISA

A student visa is granted to foreign citizens traveling to Bolivia with the aim of conducting academic or student activities. 

Student Visa: It is granted for sixty (60) calendar days, with the purpose of studying at a primary, secondary level and in institutions of higher education for vocational training, it enables you to process the temporary stay of a student for up to three (3) years , renewable for periods of up to three (3) years, until the completion of their studies before the General Directorate of Migration;

  1. Exchange student visa with state agreement: It is granted for one hundred eighty (180) calendar days, with the purpose of studying under state academic agreements, it is free of charge and enables the temporary stay of a student before the General Directorate of Migration for a similar period;
  2. Exchange student visa without a state agreement: It is granted up to eighty (180) calendar days, with the purpose of studying under academic agreements between public or private universities or other teaching centers with similar ones abroad and enables processing the temporary stay of a student for a similar period before the General Directorate of Migration.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Complete the Affidavit of Visa Application
  2. Travel passport for at least 6 months of validity
  3. Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever and / or other health certification, if applicable;
  4. A passport-sized photograph
  5. Pay the cost of $ 50.00
  6. Document that accredits the studies of the last level carried out in the College, Institute or University of the country where it had been filed, legalized by the corresponding Consular Office;
  7. Original acceptance letter or legalized photocopy issued by the destination Higher Education Institution. Applicable for student visa with state or private agreement or agreement;
  8. Legalized copy of the interinstitutional agreement or agreement as appropriate, where the type of student exchange is established. Applicable for student visa with private agreement or agreement;
  9. Current certificate attesting that the foreigner does not have a criminal and / or police record, issued by a competent authority in the country of origin or his last residence, in accordance with current regulations.

WHERE TO APPLY?
You can apply with the Bolivian Consulate in Washington, DC only if you reside in one of the following States: District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota and North Carolina.
If you do not reside in one of those states, you have to apply with another Bolivian Consulate, depending on where you live in the United States. For that information you can check your nearest Consulate: New York, Miami, Houston y Los Angeles
Incomplete applications will be returned without being processed. There is no expedited option, please plan accordingly
IMPORTANT
Please scan all the required documents (#2 to #6) before you begin your application. Processing time is of 10 business days, starting when we receive application, payment and actual passport.
